Dear students and colleagues,

We kindly ask for your participation and your submissions to the 8th International PPE Conference 2024 at Witten/Herdecke University. This conference is a student-led initiative that brings together students and scholars from diverse backgrounds. This event offers a platform to share and discuss ideas and knowledge related to global issues that affect the entirety of our contemporary societies. Therefore, we invite both scholars and students, as the future of our global society, to submit your own work and present it at the conference.

The theme of the 8th International PPE Conference 2024 is: “Generation on the EDGE (Economics, Democracy, Globalisation and Ecology)”. We live in a society that goes through changes at a fast pace which makes it difficult to see and even more difficult to understand what awaits us behind the corner, or the edge. The path forward is still unclear and challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, political polarization, global health crises, technological development and disruption, political instability, migration, and more are among the issues we confront. To comprehend the new conditions of our modern society we believe that this conference offers a unique opportunity to discuss, argue and help come up with solutions and tools in an effort to solve some of those current issues.

Moreover, by participating in the conference you are given a unique opportunity to present your research to a diverse audience of experts and students and receive valuable feedback and gain exciting new contacts. By presenting your own work, you make an important contribution to shaping the conference and making it the interactive and innovative event that it has grown into over the course of the last few years.

Furthermore, thanks to our collaboration with the Board of Trustees of Witten/Herdecke University we will again be able to present the “Best Paper Award” to one of the student participants of the conference. This award consists of a sum of 500€ and will be conferred by a jury comprising members from the organizing committee and Witten’s Institute for Social and Institutional Change (ISIC). All submissions to the conference will automatically be considered for the “Best Paper Award”. Thus, if you believe that your paper is contributing to some of the global current issues do not hesitate and apply!
